Police officers have been stationed at Odorgonno Senior High School in Accra to assist students in crossing the road following a protest on Monday, February 24, over malfunctioning traffic lights near the school.

Despite government assurances, the traffic lights remain unfixed, raising serious safety concerns among students and staff.

During the protest, students expressed frustration over the non-functional signals, citing previous accidents, including the tragic death of a staff member. They fear that without urgent intervention, more lives could be at risk.

The demonstration, which briefly disrupted traffic, underscored the dangers posed by speeding vehicles at the school’s entrance. Students say the faulty lights have resulted in multiple near-misses, making it hazardous to cross the road.

Protesters called on authorities to take swift action to fix the traffic lights and ensure the safety of all road users in the area.
