The 2023 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) came to a thrilling conclusion at the National Theater in Accra on Monday, October 30, 2023.
The finalists were Opoku Ware School (OWASS), who had won the trophy twice before, Presbyterian Boys Senior High School, Legon (PRESEC), who had a record of seven titles, and Achimota School (MOTOWN), who had clinched the trophy twice and were making their first appearance in the final in 14 years.
PRESEC dominated the contest from start to finish and secured their eighth NSMQ title and GHS 1m worth of cash prizes.
The winning team received GHS 75,000 as cash prize, GHS 10,000 from AT as the highest point scorers of the day, and GHS 75,000 Insurance cover as well as other scholarships by other educational institutions.
The team members got GHS 20,000, the teachers got GHS 20,000 and the school got GHS 35,000.
Achimota School put up a spirited performance and came second with GHS 50,000 as cash prize. The team members got GHS 15,000, the teachers got GHS 15,000 and the school got GHS 20,000.
Opoku Ware School settled for third place with GHS 35,000 as cash prize. The team members got GHS 10,000, the teachers got GHS 10,000 and the school got GHS 15,000.
