The National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, departed Accra for Harare, Zimbabwe, on Saturday night to officially step down as Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa after seven years of service.

This disengagement will allow her to dedicate herself fully to the John Mahama 2024 presidential campaign.

During her tenure, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang worked closely with the university’s management, board of trustees, and Council to restructure the institution, making it more functional and financially independent.

She focused on increasing accessibility for women, particularly those who missed earlier opportunities for higher education.

Her leadership expanded flexible learning options, bridging the gap between theory and practice, and making the university a more attractive choice for both young women and adult learners.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang will oversee her final graduation ceremony on August 30, 2024, before returning to Accra the following day.
