The ranking member of the Energy Committee in Parliament has announced that the Minority will exhaust all legal avenues to recover $12 million allocated to the Pwalugu multipurpose dam project, which has since been abandoned.
Speaking to the media at the Pwalugu dam site, John Abdulai Jinapor, emphasized the Minority’s commitment to retrieving the funds.
“We will activate all the Parliamentary processes to retrieve that amount of almost GH¢200,000 million that has been dashed to this contractor,” he declared.
Jinapor further asserted the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s intention to hold accountable those responsible for the financial loss.
“Somebody must be held liable, someone must be held accountable. GH¢200,000 million is not a small money. $12 million can do a lot in this country,” he stressed.
“We will use every legitimate means, every legal means to retrieve the money and punish those who have caused this financial crime and financial loss to the state,” Jinapor vowed, stressing the determination of the Minority to address the issue.
