The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, Mr George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, has feted more than 2,300 pupils who wrote the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and their tutors across the Cape Coast Metropolis.

He distributed packed food to candidates at the Adisadel College, Mfantsepim School, Holy Child and St. Augustine’s College and urged them to make effective use of their time as they awaited their results.

“You must be law-abiding and bear in mind that education is a ladder you can never finish climbing, and so you should keep learning useful things to prepare you adequately for the world of work and future endeavours,” he said.

Mr Ricketts-Hagan urged parents and guardians to take their responsibilities towards their children seriously and provide them with their needs.

Some parents, according to him, had shirked their responsibilities because of the government’s social interventions to provide free education to children.

“Parents must be up and doing. They must be responsible and not hide behind the government’s interventions. They must know where the ‘free’ ends and where their responsibility begins,’’ he stated.

On behalf of the pupils, Ernestina Obeng, a pupil of St. Monica’s School, was full of praise of the Cape Coast South Legislator for providing them with free sumptuous food.
