Sefwi Anhwiaso Manhene holds Science and Tech Fair for students in Western North Region

A Science and Technology Fair has been organised for over 2,250 students in the basic and senior high schools in the Western North Region to expand the transformative power of education.

These students were drawn from about fifty (50) schools within the Western North Region.

Some of the participated schools were Bibiani Senior High, Queen’s Senior High, Chirano Community Day School, Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School, Wiawso Senior High, Awaso STEM among others.

Science and Technology

The maiden Ogyeahoho science and tech fair is a platform for students in the area to showcase their creativity, ingenuity, and problem-solving skill.

It was also an opportunity to inspire and be motivated by the endless possibilities that science and technology offer the millennial.

The week-long Ogyeahoho Science and Tech Fair was organised by Avance Media in collaboration with Ghana Education Service to build stronger communities, foster educational excellence, and inspire future leaders.

Students were taken through a series of STEM fields, including coding, website development, virtual reality, app development, robotics, 3D printing, drone technology, artificial intelligence, and digital skills.

The fair was under the theme: “Empowering Tomorrow’s Innovators Today” was sponsored by Asante Gold Corporation as part of their cooperate social responsibility to develop and empower its mining community.

Science and Technology

Speaking at the launch of the maiden edition, General Manager of Asante Gold, Stephen Asante Yamoah, noted the company believes in the transformative power of education and would do everything to support the innovative ideas.

“Our operations at Chirano and Bibiani are more than just mining activities – they represent our dedication to fostering sustainable development and creating opportunities for the youth in our communities.

By investing in education, we invest in the future, ensuring that the next generation is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive innovation and progress,” he said.

Mr. Asante Yamoah emphasised that, placing science and technology at the heart of the training of students, there can be significant progress in shaping lives and driving economic growth.

He encouraged the students to continue seeking knowledge, questioning the world around them, and never ceasing to learn.

A representative of the Omanhene, Nana Kwadwo Somiah II Chief of Sefwi Ntakam and Abakomahene Anhweaso Traditional Area, noted the future of communities in the mining enclave looks promising with the focus on science and technology education.

The Western North Regional Director of Education, Mr. Seth Boateng thanked the Paramount of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi ll, for the fantastic initiative and commended the mining firm for the support to educational advancement in the region.
