PRESS CONFERENCE BY AFIGYA SEKYERE YOUTH FOR PROGRESS

January 9, 2024.

Good morning to our dear ladies and gentlemen from the media. We thank you for honoring our invitation even at short notice.

We have humbly called you here to present our concerns about the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming parliamentary primary in the Afigya Sekyere Constituency.

As stakeholders with an interest in who leads our constituency as a member of parliament, we declare as follows;

  1. We the youth have hope and confidence in Richard Barima Sarpong, we, therefore, entreat NPP delegates to vote for Barima and reject the current MP.

  2. As a local boy, born and brought in Dawu, Barima Sarpong has lived with us, he feels and knows our problems.

  3. Barima has a more realistic and wise message tailored to address the pressing issues of youth unemployment and our general welfare.

  4. All other aspirants competing with Barima Sarpong have not given as any message of hope. We cannot afford to do “try and error” anymore.

  5. Barima as an individual, has contributed to the lives of many people in the constituency. This is enough basis for us to trust the “AFIGYA PROJECT” as proposed by Barima which seeks to serve children, youth, and the older ones.

  6. We believe that Afigya Sekyere deserves a member of parliament like Barima Sarpong who is local, humble, well-educated, and can speak very well on the floor of parliament. With his background in legal education, we believe Barima can represent our people with dignity.

In conclusion, we plead with NPP delegates to consider our concerns and vote for Barima Sarpong on 27th January 2024 as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the election of 2024 and subsequently as a Member of Parliament. Thank you.

Richard Barima Sarpong, through his Afigya Project, has introduced some novel initiatives to lessen the financial burden on the natives of Afigya Sekyere East constituency.
