It was the third time in three years that the State Housing Company had handed over bungalows to the Ghana Immigration Service.

At a brief ceremony on Tuesday 21st June 2022, the Interior, Hon Abrose Derry was full of praise for the level of collaboration between GIS and SHC and urged other State institutions to emulate their relationship.

He observed that the successful completion of the project is a “testiomy of the governments resolve towards retooling the security agencies”.

The Interior Minister assured officers, rank and file of all security agencies under his Ministry, that their accommodation challenges would be resolved.

The Deputy Managing Director of SHC, Madam Sherifa Tijani-Sekyere who handed over the keys to the Interior Minister, commended Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II, Omanhene of the Sefwi Wiaso traditional area for his visionary leadership in giving the parcel of land to SHC for a housing project.

The ceremony saw in attendance the Comptroller General of GIS, Asuah Takyi, Western North Regional Minister Richard Obeng, a delegation of Chiefs as well as Management of SHC.

In 2017, the Omanhene, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II gifted the SHC about 400 acres of land for housing purposes in anticipation of the Sefwi Wiawso being declared as a Regional capital after the referendum to create new regions.

It would be recalled that in March 2021 nine units of bungalows built by SHC were in handed over to the GIS in Sunyani in the Bono Region.

It formed part of moves by Ghana’s number one builder, the SHC to partner state institutions to provide accommodation facilities for their staff as well as office facilities.
