A shooting incident at the Accra High Court has left a prison officer with injuries.

The incident which happened Wednesday morning is believed to be an accidental discharge from the gun of one of the prison officers.

An officer whose identity is immediately unknown was left with serious injuries through the discharge.

The officer was part of a team of prison officers guarding some four suspects standing trial for the unlawful kidnapping of Canadian citizens.

According to reports from the court, the discharge of the gun sent witnesses running helter-skelter with the judge, Lydia Osei Marfo taking to her heels.
