Black Stars captain, Andre Dede Ayew, says lifting the AFCON trophy is his biggest dream after losing out on the chance to do so in two finals.
Ayew played for Ghana at the 2010 and 2015 AFCON final games against Egypt and Cote D’Ivoire respectively but lost both.
Ahead of making his eighth AFCON appearance, Ayew expressed his desire to win the AFCON title and his dedication to the course of the Black Stars. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Speaking in a presser ahead of Ghana’s opening game at the 2023 AFCON against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14 at 20:00 GMT, Ayew said,
“The dream I’m living is fabulous but if I want it to be great and to be at the pinnacle, before I hang boots, to be able to lift that trophy one day that’s my biggest dream.”
Ghana is in Group B with Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique and is aiming to bounce back from suffering its worst AFCON campaign at the 2021 AFCON where the four time winners failed to win a game and exited at the group stage.
