He began the courtesy calls on Monday, 16th December, with a visit to President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu was present to welcome him.

In Abuja, President-elect Mahama extended an invitation to President Tinubu, who is also the Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State to his inauguration on January 7, as they work together to strengthen their collaboration and deepen ties within the ECOWAS community.

They discussed their shared vision for progress and unity, which was vital for the growth and stability of the West Africa subregion.

On Friday, December 20, the President-elect was also in the Togolese capital Lomé to pay a courtesy call on President Faure Gnassingbé.

The President-elect in a meeting with the Togolese leader, reiterated why it was important to continue strengthening the bonds within the subregion.

“Working together, we can better impact the lives of our people, who are connected in many ways, including tribe, history, and economy,” Mr Mahama said.

On Saturday, December 21, the President-elect took his courtesy call to President Patrice Talon of Benin, in Cotonou.

During their meeting, Mr Mahama noted that he was committed to strengthening Ghana’s relations with all its West African neighbours.
