Starting from Tuesday, August 1, the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) will be withdrawing teaching and related services due to unresolved grievances among its members.

Following the National Delegates Conference, CETAG has decided that all tutors from the 46 public colleges of education will cease their services until the government complies with all the orders issued by the National Labour Commission (NLC).

CETAG is demanding the full payment of seven-month arrears in allowances based on the approved conditions of service.

They are also requesting the payment of a one-month salary as compensation for additional duties performed in 2022.

Furthermore, CETAG is calling for the publication of the Staff Audit report and the extension of public universities’ allowance rates to deserving members.

They are seeking the prompt release of a leave roster, enabling each tutor to take 15 working days of leave for the year 2022.

Lastly, CETAG demands the unconditional cancellation of the ‘killer’ all-year-round academic calendar, effective from the 2023/2024 academic year.

The teachers association’s leadership has attempted to engage the government regarding these issues but without success.

They are urging all Branch Associations to act promptly and adhere to this resolution as directed in the press release issued on Monday, July 31.
