Majority leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency has issued a terse warning to the government to wake up from its slumber.

The Majority leader and also Minister for Parliamentary Affairs was chased and pelted with sachet water amidst boos and chants by angry constituents at the Suame Magazine.

The Majority Leader had gone to inspect the progress of work on the abandoned Suame highway following a demonstration by the youth last Friday.

The residents blocked the highway and warned of more demonstrations if the MP and the Akufo-Addo-led government fail to fix the deteriorating road.

Angry artisans of the Suame Magazine as well as the youth in the area say delays by the government in fixing the deplorable Suame Runabout road and the main stretch of the Kumasi – Techiman road are hampering business in the industrial hub and also threatening lives.

Upon hearing of the arrival of the MP, they stormed the project site and started hooting and pelting him with stones and sachets of water.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu who was accompanied by the Municipality Chief Executive for the area, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, and some party members had to be whisked to safety to prevent a bloodbath.

Speaking on the ghastly experience on Joy News monitored by Mypublisher24.com, the Majority leader said the grievances of the constituents are justified.

He said, “We all do know that as a nation we have challenges now and there is no hiding that fact. Government must work and find an antidote to satisfy the needs of the people.”

“Government‘s duty is to solve problems and not to clean away problems. We have explanations but above everything, we should attend to this immediately.”
