The survey aimed to gauge voter preferences leading the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the Effia constituency focused on samples from ten electoral areas.

The Effia constituency consists of 95 polling stations, which are categorized into ten electoral areas: East and West Tanokrom, Effia, Effiakuma East (A&B), Zongo (A&B), Effiakuma West.

Mr. Micheal Appiah, Chair of the Patriotic Intellectuals told the Ghana News Agency that with an estimated population of 34000, a sample size of1000 chosen.

He said 20 Research assistants were deployed with each a target of 50 respondents within a two-week period using the simple random and mixed method techniques to cover specific areas; churches, community bars, lorry station and households for both and Presidential candidate of the NPP.

The NPP Presidential Candidate performed better in seven out of the ten electoral areas and leads the NDC with 56 percent leaving a three percent margin of error.

Meanwhile, the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate performed better than the NDC’s candidate in all the 10 electoral areas

Mr Appiah said marginal performance was at West Tanokrom (A) with 51 percent and an average percentage lead was 68 percent with three per cent margin of error.

The head of the Patriotic Intellectuals said a paired test performed with the 2020 Presidential results and that of the 2024 survey results, showed no significant difference between the two sets of data.

It was observed that respondents considered party affiliation and candidates policies; education, economy, and infrastructure before making their choice.

The NPP Parliamentary surfaced as the preferred choice with 68 percent as compared to NDC parliamentary candidate with 26 percent.

Also, the NPP Presidential Candidate would also lead with 56 percent as compared to the NDC candidate with 31 percent.

It was also observed that NPP Parliamentary candidate was more visible.

The Research thus defuses allegation by one Musah Danquah on the fortunes of the party in the constituency.
