Presidential Kufuor, echoes from the past

The Games time table is out,

The events are known.

The participating countries are ready and the hopes are high.

It is the organizing and hosting of the Continental Olympics by our country known as the African Games. Ghana, on the 8th of March, 2024 will showcase to the world its substance and character.

All is set for the 55 countries to congregate in Ghana for the 13th edition of the Games.

The nation Ghana is ready

The Local Organizing Committee is assiduously putting in the final touches together to ensure that the nation hosts the biggest and the most colourful event.

The facilities are sparkling waiting for the users to use them

The Government is cooperating with the committee by providing it with all the necessary materials and equipment to make the Games memorable.

The Hon Minister of Youth and Sports and his team are ‘wild’ not to devour but to achieve an assigned result.

All the portfolio heads from the Security, Media & Communication, Legal, Marketing, Volunteers, Legacy, Medical and Anti Doping, Accommodation, Catering, the Games Village, Transportation, Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and Games Management

Systems are on their ‘feet.’24/7.

Ghanaians, Africans, and the World are anxious to see the calendar announce the date, 8th March 2024 when the historic event will begin, and all eyes will be on Ghana.

The determination and the commitment of all: Governments of Ghana, LOC, AU, AUSC, and ANOCA to ensure that the Games are the best to be hosted and organized by any African country is commendable and awesome.

Not forgetting the immense contributions of the Technical Committee on African Games(TCAG).

The various portals have )been given the green light for all to get on board.

The response has been amazing. Ghana is ready.

Our critical media should be commended for getting involved in carrying out the publicity for the Games.

The visibility of the Games is being improved.

This is not the time for pessimism, needless criticisms, and ‘naysaying’, it is the time for action on the part of all.

As we carry on the planning and the preparation, caution should be served to all to control and manage the expenditure.

Ghanaians are keenly watching and observing the LOC, especially on the expenditure to be incurred on the Games.

The two Sports ‘Meccas’ Borteyman and the University of Ghana, Legon are ready to give athletes and spectators the feel of investment. The two edifices and the sporting facilities are just unmatchable.

The facilities will aid Ghana to have the capacity to host most international competitions on the globe.

The benefits for the nation and its population for the Games are numerous. These include creating and improving local economies, more facilities to birth and unravel the talents in the field of sports, development, stability of our local currency, tourism, employment creation, and all the positives.

The nation is ready, with God, everything is possible and doable.

God bless our nation Ghana and make it great and strong.

Lastly, as a Muslim and a believer, I pray for good health to all participants, Government officials, LOC members, citizens, the staff at the Secretariat, federations, members of the various sub-committees, and everyone who is associated with the Games.

I pray for peace and incident-free Games.

Ghana will shine again.
