The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to upgrade the quality of its executive members across the country as a senior lecturer at the Koforidua Technical University (KTU), Buckman Akuffo has declared his intention to contest for the Eastern Regional Secretary position of the party.

Mr. Akuffo who said to be an astute politician with 20 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration, promised to provide an efficient administrative setup for the NPP in the region if elected as the Regional Secretary.

Announcing his intention at a news conference in Koforidua, the university lecturer indicated he will be picking forms when the party opens nomination from 15th May, 2022 to contest for the regional scribe position.

“For every system or structure to operate effectively and efficiently, all units within the structure must function at optimal levels’’, he stressed.

Mr. Akuffo explained that there is the need for a proper administrative mechanism to involve the management and operation of the respective systems/entities and their leadership, hence his decision to join the contest.

“When elected, through a bottom-up and top-down approach, I will ensure all administrative systems/entities from polling stations through constituencies to the region are functioning as intended. This will be able to properly feed into the national structure and offer the needed inputs for NPP as a whole to achieve its objectives’’, the aspiring regional secretary stated.

Mr. Akuffo promised to also develop, build and deploy a real-time database of voters, which every political party aims to have a greater turn out of its supporters on election day.

“When elected, I will work with the party structures to identify at the polling stations level beforehand, all loyal supporters and sympathizers and build a comprehensive database to inform all campaign strategies”, he stressed.

According to him, opportunities and offers will be enhanced for all polling stations and constituencies if he gets the nod to serve the party, especially for those who will meet their targets.

This, he noted, will serve as an incentive for success and spur leaders to offer their best for the party.

“My commitment to this is very important and will let leaders see the rewards for their labour, implement a Region-wide Welfare/Insurance policy, lack of such a welfare policy more often than not, leaves our members to be bitter about the party’s lack of support when distressed.

“When elected, I will set up a region-wide welfare policy to help members financially during the death of your parents, death of your spouse, death of your child, hospitalization during ill health, in the unlikely demise of a member, their families will benefit as well. This will be administered to all dues-paying members in the region”, Mr. Akuffo explained.

He also pledged to embark on a vote maximisation strategy for all elections.

Mr. Akuffo said effective data, management, periodic and consistent strategies will be deployed to maximise voters for the party in all elections.

Buckman Akuffo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Mathematics, Koforidua Technical University.

His interest is in Time Series and financial modelling, specifically in modelling structural breaks for forecasts in dimensional series.

Buckman also develops models for effective and efficient on-line teaching and learning for inclusive and life–long learning.

He holds MSc Degree in Statistics from KNUST, MBA Finance from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and BSc Mathematics also from KNUST.

Mr. Akuffo has been Eastern Region Deputy Director of Communication of the NPP from 2017 to date.

He is also a government appointee, New Juaben South Municipal Assembly, Patron TESCON Koforidua Technical University, Secretary/Member – Eastern Regional Communications Strategy Sub-Committee for 2020 elections and a resource person for Regional Training of Constituency Officers among others.
