The annual initiative, dubbed: “Career Guidance Programme” forms part of VRA’s corporate social responsibility, aimed at motivating and preparing students for the job market by providing insights into various professional pathways.

Mr. John Chobba, Principal Information and Publicity Officer, VRA, educating the students, emphasised the organisation’s commitment to empowering young minds.

He noted that the Employee Volunteer Program brings together experienced VRA staff to share their professional experiences and provide mentorship.

“This initiative underscores our dedication to nurturing future leaders by instilling the right knowledge, attitudes, and values that will help them make informed decisions about their careers. We believe education is a key driver of socio-economic development, and VRA remains a proud partner in this journey,” Mr Chobba stated.

He encouraged students to set ambitious goals and embrace a culture of continuous learning to excel in their future endeavours.

Mr Jerry John Atsu, Headmaster of Mepe St. Kizito Senior High Technical School, expressed gratitude to VRA for their impactful visit.

He highlighted the importance of career guidance in shaping the aspirations of young learners, adding that such engagements boost students’ confidence and broaden their understanding of available career opportunities.

“The influence of experienced professionals from an institution like VRA is invaluable. It gives students practical insights and motivates them to pursue careers that align with their passions and talents,” Mr. Atsu remarked.

The session featured interactive discussions where students posed questions on career-related topics, including engineering, technology, and entrepreneurship.

VRA volunteers shared personal success stories and tips on overcoming challenges in the professional world.

Participants described the event as insightful and inspiring, with many expressing renewed determination to pursue higher education and professional growth.

The Career Guidance Program is one of several community outreach initiatives led by VRA as part of its efforts to contribute to national development beyond its core mandate of electricity generation and distribution.
