The campaign of Trades Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has hit a snag after the Health Walk organized on Saturday August 13 in the Ashanti Region.

The Walk was supposed to have been organized to express gratitude to the Trade and Industry Minister by Asanteman but a viral video on social media says otherwise.

The trending video captures some of the participants of the exercise who were bussed from Accra to the Ashanti Region crying foul over the paltry GH¢50 being offered them for their participation.

As they complained about the amount and the fact that they closed down their businesses and travelled to Kumasi for the exercise, a voice could be heard warning them their behaviour would be reported to Alan to which somebody retorted, ‘Na Alan nu ↄyɛ hwan? which translates, ‘And the Alan who is he?

“Others responded, “Why, do we fear him? Is he not a human?”

The angry supporters claimed they have not bathed since they left their homes on Friday to journey to the Ashanti Region to participate in the walk.

One angry woman claimed she left home on Friday at 7:00 pm and got to the Motorway Runabout at 8:00 pm to catch the bus.

She said, “The bus left at 1:00 am Saturday. I have not had any bath up till this moment. I’m tired, hungry and thirsty.
I have not slept for the past 24 hours. When I met my child, how much did I give him? I closed down my shop because of the love I have for Alan. An elderly woman like me, I have walked for hours and you come and give me GH¢50.”

“Why, am I a child?”

She warned she is also a delegate whose vote the aspiring presidential candidate would need.

After the walk, former MP for Nsuta-Kwaman Beposo Hon Kwame Asafo Adjei said the men and women of Asanteman with a special interest in the development of Asanteman and all allies embarked on the Health walk and insisted it is non-political as speculated.”

Some former MPs and Ministers who served in the John Kufuor Administration also joined the health walk.

Close to 20,000 people were estimated to have participated in the walk.
