Speaking on the nomination, a youth leader – Nicholas Mensah remarked, “This appointment is accepted by all as the nominee has contributed consistently towards the development of the district. The nominee is competent and will serve the president and district well.”

Recounting his track record, Hon. Philip Kwabena Boahen is said to have served the Suaman constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in varying capacities and also in other leadership portfolios, the Branch Organizer for GRASAG ILGS from 2014 – 2015. He was also a polling station Youth Organizer and the Constituency Treasurer in 2000-2004 and 2005-2009 respectively. In the 2012 parliamentary election, he contested as Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and furthered into the party’s parliamentary primaries in 2014 but could not make a headway.

Despite his unsuccessful pursuits, Hon. Philip Kwabena Boahen is said to have remained resolved and committed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), serving as the constituency’s Director of Operations and Protocols for the 2020 general elections and Constituency Communication Officer from 2018 to date.

As a contribution to the customs of and traditions of Suaman, Hon. Philip continues to serve as a Counselor on the Suaman Traditional Council, providing his assistance to the advancement of the council’s operations.

Hon. Philip Kwabena Boahen currently holds a Masters of Arts in Local Government Administration and Organization from the Institute of Local Government Studies. Additionally, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistic and Sociology from the prestigious University of Ghana, Legon. As a skilled business-minded person, he also holds a certificate in Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Ghana Business School.

In an up-close with the nominee, Hon. Boahen expressed his unending gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for reposing such a level of confidence in him to extend his (the President’s) transformational agenda to the Suaman-Dadieso district and to improve the lives of residents.

He said, when approved, will have three (3) key areas to focus on and improve. These he indicated will be the creation of employment opportunities, agriculture modernization, and the creation of a sustainable alternative livelihood besides cocoa farming.

Hon. Philip Kwabena Boahen further made a clarion call to all Assembly Members, Nananom, and other stakeholders to throw their weight behind him and join hands to put the Suaman district on a higher pedestal.
