The analogy captures my team, Arsenal. Arsenal is a formidable team that plays in the oldest league in the world, the English Premier League.
The team and its vociferous supporters want to win the Premier League, which has eluded them for some decades now. The team has been struggling to make it to the glory.
Last year, the team was almost through to annex the trophy, but alas it didn’t happen as Manchester City dethroned them from the top spot to win the league.
This year too, the signs are or were solid that at least, the team would make its numerous fans across the globe celebrate with the Premier League trophy. As I write this piece, I don’t know if it will happen, because we had a golden opportunity and we faltered as Aston Villa stunned and battered us in front of our teeming supporters at the Emirates some weeks ago.
The game ended two goals to nil in favour of our guests.
The team then decided to depend on its neighbours, Tottenham to disturb or defeat our close competitor, Manchester City. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as MC inflicted a painful victory over them.
What it means is that MC is now leading the pack with a game to go.
It is still not over until it is over, but! Sorry if I sound pessimistic.
You see, in life, do not depend on the failure of someone to achieve your objective. Work hard, take all the opportunities and never sleep on your right.
My team, Arsenal misused opportunities, slept on their right and naively depended on Tottenham to help them, which help never materialized.
We have to learn a lesson from this scenario.
Believe in yourself
Set your target well
Work towards it
Take every opportunity that comes your way
Utilize your thoughts wisely and do not depend on others for your success except your Creator and yourself.
A lesson to all to learn from the sickening behaviour of my team, Arsenal
