The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in the Greater Accra Region has been upgraded with a state-of-the-art office complex, thanks to the efforts of the Ministry for Lands and Natural Resources.
Deputy Minister for the Minister, Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio, representing the sector Minister, officially inaugurated the new facility in a ceremony at Kwabenya, Accra, on Thursday, 08 February 2024.
Hon. Owusu-Bio handed the keys to the complex over to the DVLA’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer responsible for operations, marking the facility’s readiness for full operational use.
Expressing his satisfaction with the project’s completion, Hon. Owusu-Bio stated that the construction was facilitated through a Public-Private Agreement (PPA) with Unique Development, a privately owned company.
He elaborated that the relocation of the DVLA’s Greater Accra Regional office was necessitated by the Ministry’s redevelopment plans for the Energy City enclave, stressing the importance of providing the DVLA with a larger and more efficient workspace.
The Deputy Minister noted that the new office complex represents an improvement over the previous building, with enhancements designed to accommodate advanced digital technologies to support the DVLA’s functions.
Hon. Owusu-Bio lauded Unique Developers for their exceptional work and acknowledged the DVLA management’s role in ensuring a successful transition to the new premises.
“This was done through a partnership between the Ministry and a private company by the name Unique Development.”
“The company has successfully relocated the existing occupant of that area. All the replacement facilities were done in consultation with the affected agencies”, he said.
The Deputy CEO of DVLA in charge of operations, Mr. Prince Edusei Poku acknowledged the incredible work done by the Ministry in providing his outfit a befitting office and assured that the facility will be used for the purpose for which it was established.
He added that final works will be done expeditiously to ensure the facility is up and running within a year.
